Motorway Lessons – why you should take them
Motorway lessons are non-compulsory driving lessons that can be taken following a successful practical driving test. They teach you the correct etiquette for driving on motorways and although you don’t have to take them they can be very beneficial – especially if you’re going to be using motorways in the near future.
What do they teach you?
Motorway lessons concentrate on the skills you need to drive safely on the motorways of the UK. This means you learn to join the main carriageway, overtake safely, stay within the speed limit but at a pace that doesn’t cause other drivers any problems, leave the motorway and most importantly to be aware of the other vehicles on the road. Most accidents on motorways are caused by driver distraction and it is important that new drivers especially learn to keep their concentration even after endless miles on a motorway.
Why should you take them?
Motorway driving can be very stressful, especially for new drivers who are still building their confidence. Motorways are however the quickest way of getting from one place to another and so economical driving will require their use. This is why you should learn to drive safely and confidently on motorways as soon as possible after passing your test. This type of road also gives you the opportunity to drive at the 70mph speed limit and this can give you extra confidence in a car. You’ll probably only need one or two lessons at most but they could be the most beneficial lessons you’ll ever take.
