Preparing Yourself for the Driving Test
Whether you’re taking your driving test for the first time or the tenth time it will undoubtedly be a nerve racking experience. With a bit of preparation though you can help to guarantee a pass so read below to find out how.
Remember your Highway Code and Hazards
Just because you’ve passed your Highway Code and hazard awareness exams it doesn’t mean you can forget the information you learned. You need it to be in the front of your mind during your practical test so brush up on both in the days before the test. You never know when the examiner is going to surprise you with a few questions either so make sure you know your stuff.
Take a few extra lessons
If you can afford to then take a few additional lessons in the week before your test. This will allow you to brush up on any areas you’re unsure about and it will give you that little bit of extra confidence on the roads.
Do the test route if you know it
Most examiners have one or two routes that they take students around and your instructor should have knowledge of them. If he/she does then use a lesson or two to drive around the route so that on the day you know what to expect and the hazards to watch out for.
Think positively
Students that take their driving test with a positive frame of mind often do a lot better than those who become overrun with nerves. Remember – you know how to drive and you know the theory, plus your instructor wouldn’t have entered you for the exam if they didn’t think you were ready. Keep this in mind and your positive thoughts will hopefully lead to success.
